Welcome guests with olá, which is hello in Portuguese, the official language of Brazil. Men should shake hands, while women kiss each other on the cheeks, starting with the left cheek. If a woman wishes to shake hands with a man, she should offer her hand. Hugging and backslapping are common greetings. |
INGREDIENTS
1 (14-ounce) can or 11⁄2 cups sweetened condensed milk
2 egg yolks
2 teaspoons vanilla
2 tablespoons soft butter
Cooking spray
3 cups flaked coconut
3 tablespoons powdered sugar
|
COOKING INSTRUCTIONS. Heat the sweetened condensed milk in a heavy saucepan on low heat. In a small bowl, whisk the egg yolks, vanilla, and butter, and add to the milk. Heat slowly until thickened.
Pour the mixture onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Let completely cool. After washing your hands, spray them with cooking spray. Take a spoon and scoop out about 1 tablespoon of the mixture, and roll into a ball with your hands. Roll the balls in flaked coconut and powdered sugar to serve.
Makes 12 servings. |
